Monterey to Springfield via Granville.

Multiplexed with US 202 / MA 10 in Southwick.

In 1930, connected Southwick to West Springfield. Extended to New Boston between 1933 and 1936. Extended to Monterey between 1946 and 1950.

In 1950, 57 passed along Meroial St in West Springfield (further north of where it is now, along modern MA 147). By 1961, the first part of the expressway section was built (to modern MA 159). By 1966, it was completed out beyond MA 75 and signed as 57. Finally, sometime in the late 80’s or early 90’s, the highway was extended out to its current length.
