General Routing

Orleans to NH line in Methuen via Hyannis, E. Falmouth, Bridgewater, Brockton, Boston, Medford and Lawrence.

Upgrades and Multiplexes

Expressway north of W. Falmouth.

Multiplexed with MA 18 from I-495 to Bridgewater.
Briefly multiplexed with MA 3 in Boston.
Brief multiplex with MA 62 in North Reading.
Brief multiplex with MA 139 in Randolph.
Cosigned with US 6 in Wareham and Bourne.
Useless multiplex with MA 6A in Orleans.
Brief multiplex with MA 28 in Boston.

History

Appears to be relatively unchanged since the 1930’s. The exceptions to this would be in the city of Boston (see the MA C28 entry) and the expressway on the Cape, which was numbered to MA 28 between 1961 and 1966, and MA 28A took the old routing.

Trivia

If you drive the entire length from Orleans to New Hampshire, you will have driven south, east, west and north before even leaving the Cape.
